Nepal vs Malaysia women’s football friendly match ended at 1-1 in their first friendly match held at Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu on Monday.
Home team Malaysia takes lead with the goal of Dadree Rofinus’s in 64th minute of the match while Sabitra Bhandari levels the score line in 67th minute of the match.
Nepal’s head coach Kumar Thapa said that “I am quite happy with the result because we came from a goal behind. It’s not that we could not create chances. In fact, we were close to scoring thrice in the first half but we gave them away too easily. It took us some time to adjust to the hot climatic conditions in a new place. I am sure we will do well in the second match because the players will get used to the weather by then. The goal we got from Sabitra in the second half was literally a gift to us. A long ball charged by Dipa Rai was fumbled by the keeper, allowing Sabitra to notch home.”
This is the first friendly match and second friendly match is scheduled to be play at the same venue on May 24.
The friendly match between Nepal and Malaysia is being held under the initiation of Football Association of Malaysia, who are preparing their team for the upcoming SEA Games to be held in Kuala Lumpur from August.
